Dear Pehle India,
I became a member on your site when my office colleague told me about it. Here’s something you’d be interested in knowing.
There is a stretch of road near my home that has no lighting. It is usually a busy street during the day but in the late hours it gets very desolate and there is always a fear that someday something terrible could happen to someone walking by in the dark. I spoke to my landlord and asked him if we could get a group of the local residents together and speak to the electricity officials about it, but they rejected saying no one would listen. I even spoke to some of my other friends in the locality but it didn’t seem promising. So I looked for some people on pehleindia.com who live near by and requested them to join my network. We discussed how to proceed with this issue and someone suggested we should get together and talk to the MLA of my area – Mr. Karan Singh Tanvar.
Three days later we met each other for the first time outside the MLA’s residence and went in to speak with him. I had never imagined in my life that I would meet an MLA or MP, and now that I was about to, I found the idea a bit scary. There were already a lot of people there and by the time they were done, it had already taken two hours and my fear had subsided. We spoke to him about our problem and he agreed the street should be lit. He made a few phone calls and asked us to visit him again in a couple of weeks. When we went back again we were informed the work order had been sanctioned. A week later someone was seen digging up a small section of the road to install a lamp post. The sense of pride in my heart cannot be described.
Not only am I an influential resident in my colony now, I also made some friends for life on your website. The reason I am sharing this with you is because you say that you want members to connect and make an impact on our nation, but I think we can even begin by just making an impact on our street.
Regards,
Tipu Biswas.

Guys, after the Mumbai attacks I wanted to organize a rally with my batchmates to protest the Government’s inaction in matters of our internal security. I discussed this with my PehleIndia.Com network and in the process realized from someone on our network that there was a huge candle light vigil being planned at the Gateway of India. We decided to drive to Mumbai and be a part of that group instead of organizing our rally. Usually, we get to know of such a rally or protest march in the evening news on the day of the event, and never get to show our support but due to your website we were connected with people who were already thinking like us. This is a great site to connect like minded citizens who would probably never find each other any other way.
